Pet Stories: In Your Own Words
My son Glenn had a cat named Joey. Joey was missing for 3 days and we were heartbroken, Glenn was especially down, so I went to the pet store and bought a male kitten. The new kitten wasn't in the house 10 minutes when Joey came home! How happy we all were. Of course the new kitten had to stay. He was named Roddy. Time went by and Glenn was now all grown to a nice young man. One Friday night he made plans to go hiking with friends and would return on Sunday. I was hesitant but he was old enough. Off he went saying he'd see us later. Around midnight Friday Roddy started to run to patio door and howl like I've never heard a cat howl before. He had me up most of the night. Thought an animal or something had spooked him. He continued to howl and cry at patio doors for rest of weekend. He was really upset.
Sunday arrived but Glenn was late getting home.......I thought he'd walk in any minute full of stories and, I thought muddy clothes, as it had started to rain early in the day. Of course this wasn't to be the case....as the next time I saw Glenn was to identify him as he fell 70 feet and was killed sometime Friday night. Both had fallen but Glenn died. I now know that Roddy sensed this and he has been known to go into Glenn's room and look up and meow to whom he's talking too. I know my son is still with us. Roddy has never howled like that again. It was his anguish and grief that caused him to do it. Glenn did come home and he's still with us, just on the "Other Side". Joey has since died at age 18 and he is with his person til that "other" cat arrives again.
