WOULDN’T IT BE NICE

Wouldn’t it be nice if we could both just live in joy each day
And share that joy with each other.
Being appreciative of all that we have
And share that appreciation with each other.

Wouldn’t it be nice if our deep love for each other
Promoted unconditional love and trust.
That no matter what is said or done
Is always done or said in love and trust.

Wouldn’t it be nice to know that we live in the security
Between us as to our love and trust for each other.
To live in that secure knowing that mother and child
Reside as one thought of love and trust for each other.

Wouldn’t it be nice to know that whatever may come in our lives
That we could always share that with one another.
Knowing that the other would always lift us up
By their love and trust.

Wouldn’t it be nice to know that we are in the same vibration
Of just loving and trusting each other along the way.
For in that knowing there would ever be the thought
Of love and trust in every day.

Wouldn’t it be nice to share the rest of our years together
Sharing all that we have come to know.
Supporting each other in our own personal lessons
Teaching each other all along the way.

Wouldn’t it be nice to know that we have an advocate
No matter what life presents before us.
To know that we have the best of friend
Who’ll be there with us through thick and thin.

Wouldn’t it be nice to just rest in that knowing
That we can just share.
All that we are or ever hope to be
And just be enjoyed for who we truly are. Wouldn’t it be nice…

It would be nice if we could know the difference
Between what we want and what we need!
Then we could expend our energies on what matters
Instead of meaningless banalities

It would be nice if we could really be there
For those who are in dire need
For those who are alone and sick and homeless
Who cannot help themselves in midst of chaos.

It would be nice,a fine expression,
Has only one uncertainty of thinking:
The conditional implied by "would"!
So that our "woulds" can be enabled.
May we start to see the future
And change these "woulds" to "cans" and "wills"

Yes, it will be nice when we come together
In Peace and Love and Harmony!
Yes it can if we are willing,
To seek out the future we wish to see!

Thank you so much for responding to my poem.
It gave me great interest, your perception of "would".
It made me further define my intent behind the phrase
"Wouldn't it Be Nice".

I see "would" as an offer, an invitation
Without conditions in anyway.
To me, "Wouldn't it be nice"
Is looking at situations in the best
That they can possibly be.

In this reference, coming from where I am
Will and can are demands and are to me conditional.
But in using "would" designates the possibilities
If two entities work together to make the best
That it can be, it can be.

I can only speak for myself
And express what I think and feel
Would be the best a relationship can evolve.
I cannot put my "conditions" on another
As to what it can be or will be.

So, in my intent of this poem
It is the intent of offering or an invitation
To experience a relationship in the best that it can be.
Leaving ample opportunity for the other to decide if they should agree.

There are no conditions
For the other may not see my impressions
As the best that it could be
For I cannot control another's impressions.

Anyway, thank you. It really helped me to define
My intent behind this writing.

My playful answer is simply another way
To interpret the "would". The French have a
usage for that invitational "would"
It is a suggestion, a question in the negative

I am a linguist and often the words jump out at me
and then I am off on a version of my own!
It is a pleasure to read your reaction
and I honor your feelings so beautifully expressed here.

Wouldn't it be nice if we could meet someday
And share- in spoken words- that which we now must write?
Wouldn't it be nice to have the time to think and write
whenever we wanted.... whatever we wanted......

and No What Ifs...

If he decided to end this , I would be greatly saddened, but would hope he finds whatever it is that would make him completely whole - whether another woman, or whatever his journey on this Earth Plane would take him too...

As for every man I have been with, he has been there for me...in so many ways...and our arguments and there have been about 3 - have always been resolved to the quickest...

Yes, I, too, reside in the essence of this poem
With my dear friend, OneLight and my son
So, we know it is possible
Therefore my wish
That we would experience this with
Others in our lives
Whether it be mate, partner, friend,
Parent, child, employer, employee.

And, one by one
We could extend that
To communities, to our government
To the interchange of nations.

It begins one on one.
One can offer, but the offer has to be accepted.
It is a unified direction
That cannot be obtained
Unless both parties are willing.

But it has to begin, to start somewhere
And it is in our willingness
Each and everyone of us
Is where it begins and then
Spreads, and spreads and spreads.

It is in our willingness to give up defense
And to promote cooperation
Wherein we will find
That it can and will become.

A unified nation, a unified world

Just a quick note that I went over your website..it is really cool!

I loved the poetry featured, tho' some of it is in Creativity...and I loved the pix of the cats!

I have a beautiful Tuxedo cat now...I found her walking around in an AlleyWay and picked her up...I fear she may have been abused, as she is very fast to snarl, and fast to bite (and not those little cat love bites either), and she is a fast scratcher...

When I leave her alone for a couple of days and come home she comes right up to me and meows, rubs herself up against my legs and when I pick her up she actually kisses me on my lips - though some would say 'Yuck, cat germs'...

I don't see it that way...but I am rambling...

I really enjoyed the visit and recommend it to other members if they are interested...

That's fascinating. I do know that in the German language there are several words that can be translated as "love" but all three express a different type of love. That's something we have difficulty with in the English language.

This thread is really great. I'm reading it with great interest.
